There are many parts to our inspection and appraisal analysis; preparation, thorough evaluation, quality photographs, research, document report, and verbal report. The sum of all is what gives you a true understanding of the vehicle without misinterpretation, and that is what makes our mobile auto inspection and appraisal service top-notch.
Appraisals
Similar to an inspection the appraisal also has the initial evaluation phase on-site, however there is more time involved with an appraisal due to additional research and document layout, therefore the final product is different because it serves a specific purpose. Additionally, the serial number and body tag are decoded along with engine stampings where applicable. Our appraisal is approximately 18 pages long and professionally prepared to the highest standards. In most cases customers receive the completed appraisal within 72 hours after the vehicle has been evaluated. Pittsburgh Vehicle PPI is certified by and in good standing with Pennsylvania Antique Auto Appraisals (PA3) and follows Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) as declared by the Appraisal Standards Board of The Appraisal Foundation, which is accepted by institutions for insurance, loans, estates, tax purposes, etc.
Industry Warning: Be leery of local services that don’t specialize in this specific field or national companies pretending to be local, as many of them contract the jobs to unqualified workers. Our goal as a regional independent specialist is to provide a higher quality service than the national companies at a lower price, so while you might find somebody that charges less its usually a paper without industry standards or credentials, and that is not a legitimate appraisal and often rejected by major institutions. Additionally, anyone or any business that asks you to bring the automobile to them to appraise is a red flag.
Inspections
The overall evaluation checks the functionality and condition on hundreds of items including the engine, vehicle systems, fluids, accessories, leaks, tires and more. The interior is carefully looked at top to bottom, everything is checked from dash lights to seat operation. We also canvas the details of hardware, rubber seals, trim and other cosmetics. A close eye examines the body and paint including a thorough undercarriage inspection. Last but not least, we check known problem areas for that specific make and model plus all the little things that most people never think of. Results are a detailed written report that is 4 to 5 pages long, a minimum of 90 quality photos of the automobile inside and out including undercarriage and close-ups, along with a verbal report answering any questions you have. Customers receive the written report and photos via email on the same day the inspection is performed, and after the results are reviewed by the customer we discuss the findings over the phone to ensure the observations are interpreted correctly.

- Appraisal = $369 (includes 45 miles of travel round trip, add $1 per mile after)
- Inspection = $315 (includes 45 miles of travel round trip, add $1 per mile after)
- Post Inspection Appraisal = $270 (appraisal request after inspection within 9 days)
- Additional Services = $54 Per Hour (e.g. decoding, consultation, etc. 2-hour minimum)
